MRS. RODRIGUEZ
Rad Rainbow of the Week
Each student will have a turn to be the Rad Rainbow of the week!
A blank "Rad Rainbow" of the week poster will be given to every adult on Back to School Night. Students can decorate their poster to share with their classmates. The Rad Rainbow of the Week will have an opportunity to share their item(s) each day. They can bring their items each day rather than all on Monday.
MONDAY
Present their poster to the class.
TUESDAY
Share their favorite book. Be prepared to tell why the book is your favorite and mark your favorite part(s) to share.
WEDNESDAY
Share 3-5 items to with the class. (Examples: work of art child has done, trophy, a book your child has written, an award or anything else of which your child is particularly proud of).
THURSDAY
Items for estimation! Count them and write 2-3 clues that will help us guess the number of items. Please write down the # of items, and include this in a Ziploc bag with the items (in case your child forgets!) Item examples: marbles, coins, erasers, seashells, beads, pasta, buttons, lollipops, small candies, marshmallows, pencils, stickers, etc. ALSO....I will check in with the student on Monday and they will decide the dress up day for Thursday. Ideas could be...dress in a certain color head to toe, Hawaiian theme, mis match day, etc.
FRIDAY
Parent letter day. Please email me a note about your student. I will read the letter to the class. The content of the letter is up to you, but here are some possible ideas from previous years: describe special or funny stories about your student for the class to hear. Write a silly or serious poem about your student, tell us some interesting things we may not know about your student. Optional: send silly or special pictures. The kids really enjoy the special notes sent in by parents, or even a surprise note from a family friend or another relative :)

Celebrating Birthdays
Birthdays are such an exciting thing to celebrate. As a class we are aware of birthdays and will celebrate our special classmate by making sure they feel extra special on their day! We celebrate all birthdays even if they fall on non school days. Students can bring in non-edible treats to share with the class, this is totally optional. In the past, students have brought in pencils, erasers, etc. If you would like to, you can come in and read the class a book on your students birthday-1/2 birthday (I will reach out to you if your students birthday falls on a non school day so that we can arrange for you to come in, if you would like). *Please be sure you are cleared to be on campus. (See the "Volunteer at School" tab).
